Addition of Maria Schrader’s SHE SAID and Lila Neugebauer’s CAUSEWAY brings total number of feature films in Women In Cinema program to 37
CHICAGO, Illinois (October 4, 2022) – The Chicago International Film Festivaltoday announced that award-winning journalist and New York Times bestselling author Katie Couric, executive producer of NO ORDINARY CAMPAIGN, will appear at an encore presentation of her film. Meanwhile, two new features, SHE SAID and CAUSEWAY, join the Festival’s Women in Cinema program, which today announced a number of special guests for the Festival’s 58th edition, running October 12 - 23, 2022. Film screenings and programs will take place at theaters and venues across the city, including AMC River East 21, the Music Box Theatre, the Gene Siskel Film Center, Austin Town Hall, the Hamilton Park Cultural Center in Englewood, and the Chicago History Museum.
Katie Couric moderates at encore screening of NO ORDINARY CAMPAIGN
Award-winning journalist Katie Couric is set to moderate a panel discussion following an encore screening of director Christopher Burke’s NO ORDINARY CAMPAIGN, which Couric executive produced. The film, which holds its World Premiere at the Chicago International Film Festival, is an inspiring story of love, hope, and activism following former Obama political director Brian Wallach, who was diagnosed with ALS at age 37, fighting alongside his wife Sandra Abrevaya to find solutions for the debilitating disease. Wallach, Abrevaya, Burke, and executive producer Phil Rosenthal, who also created and hosts “Somebody Feed Phil,” will also be in attendance at the encore presentation to be held Saturday October 22.
Two new films added to Festival’s Women in Cinema program
Two highly anticipated films are joining the Chicago International Film Festival slate, bringing the total number of films presented to 96 features and 56 shorts in its 58th edition.
Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan star in director Maria Schrader’s SHE SAID, based on the true story of New York Times reporters Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, who together broke one of the most important stories in a generation and shattered decades of silence around the subject of sexual assault in Hollywood, altering American culture forever. In CAUSEWAY, the intimate drama from Lila Neugebauer, Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence stars as a soldier struggling to adjust to her life after returning home to New Orleans. The award-winning director of Tony-nominated Broadway revival of Kenneth Lonergan’s “The Waverly Garden,” Neugebauer will attend the Festival screening on October 17, participating in an audience Q&A. Both films join the Festival’s Spotlight and Women in Cinema programs.
