CHICAGO, Illinois -- Showtime will present director Andrew Renzi's READY FOR WAR at the 55th Chicago International Film Festival.  READY FOR WAR follows three "Green Card Soldiers," who, after committing minor criminal offenses, are deported. The film features Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth, and follows Chicago's Miguel Perez Jr., a two-tour veteran of Afghanistan who was deported to Mexico 18 months ago. Perez's original citizenship petition was denied due to a nonviolent drug conviction for which he served his time. In September, Governor JB Pritzker granted him a full pardon, allowing him to appeal his case. Perez was granted citizenship in early October. READY FOR WAR will screen during the 55th Chicago International Film Festival, with director Andrew Renzi, producer Nick Boak, and subjects Miguel Perez Jr. and Hector Barajas in attendance, conducting audience discussions following each screening. Screenings are scheduled for Wednesday, October 23 at 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, October 24 at 2:45 p.m. at AMC River East 21, 322 E. Illinois St. READY FOR WAR will premiere on Showtime this Fall.
