Legendary Artist Regarded As Among Most Influential Comic Creators in History
Chicago, Illinois (May 23, 2023) – Chicago’s longest-running comic and pop culture convention, FAN EXPO Chicago today revealed new additions to the roster of comic artists appearing at this year’s event, running August 10 - 13, 2023 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont.
Legendary artist Frank Miller, widely regarded as one of the most influential comic creators in history with his “Batman: Year One,” “Daredevil,” and “Sin City” books, celebrates the 25th anniversary of his iconic series “300” with a special panel conversation. Joining him on stage are special guests Frank Cho and Ariel Diaz, who each contributed their own unique cover variants to the 25th anniversary re-release of “300” #1. The panel will explore Miller’s creative process and the art, artistry, and history that inspired his work. All panel attendees will receive a mystery “300” 25th anniversary variant comic, and guests at a special VIP experience will also receive a lithograph, an exclusive variant comic, and join a meet-and-greet with Miller following the panel.
FAN EXPO Chicago continues its 51-year tradition of supporting some of the most talented comic artists in the industry, announcing new guests alongside Cho and Diaz today including a rare appearance by Ariel Olivetti; legendary artists Steve McNivenand Klaus Janson; Donny Cates (Vanish, Thor, Hulk); Tim Jacobus (Goosebumps); and Joshua Cassara (X-Men, Wolverine). The newly-announced guests are joining previously announced Jae Lee (Seven Sons); Alan Quah (Gears of War), Björn Barends (Spawn), and more than 30 other artists at the cutting edge of their industry in the show’s hallmark Artist Alley.
Previously announced highlights of FAN EXPO Chicago 2023 include a time-tripping “Back to the Future” cast reunion featuring Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, and Tom Wilson; a 40th anniversary reunion of “National Lampoon’s Vacation” cast including Chevy Chase, Christie Brinkley, Anthony Michael Hall, Randy Quaid, and Dana Barron; legendary director Sam Raimi (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, The Evil Dead); Giancarlo Esposito (The Mandalorian, Breaking Bad); Christina Ricci (Wednesday, The Addams Family); Henry Winkler (Arrested Development, Scream, Happy Days); and Katee Sackhoff (The Mandalorian, Battlestar Galactica).
FAN EXPO Chicago runs August 10 - 13, 2023 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont.
